Satin coat galvanized steel with a high quality baked on enamel paint. All water pipe openings have secure fitting rubber grommets to protect against vibration and electrolysis from dissimilar metals, copper tubes/steel cabinet. Cabinets are acoustically lined to reduce sound to a minimum. The cabinets are engineered to be sturdy and attractive.
Utilizes rifle tubing and lanced fin design, the latest advances in air coil mfg. The Air Coils used are extremely large in total surface area, if not the largest in the industry affording the very best in Heat Transfer surface area and dehumidification on cooling. Polar Bear Air Coils never freeze up on A/C.
The fan motor shaft runs on a sealed Ball Bearing assembly instead of a sleeved shaft. This type of assembly never needs oiling. Ball Bearing fan motors are rarely used by original equipment manufacturers because of the increased expense. The customer has the option to run the fan on either high speed or low speed to circulate air on a continuous basis. This maintains a high level of air filtration and adds to the evenness of temperature through out the home. Continuous fan operation is especially useful in moving warm air from a room with a high sun load or heat created from a burning fireplace to the rest of the house.

The Water Coil matched to each sized unit is larger in capacity then almost all other manufacturers. Polar Bear units consistently out perform all other makes in both total BTU output and COP efficiency. In closed loop applications where BTU output drops because of the lower incoming water temperature, BTU output is only marginally decreased in a Polar Bear unit. The Tube carrying the water is convoluted in design or STAR shaped to maximize surface area for heat transfer. If the pipe freezes there is rarely any damage done as the star shape simply expands as the water freezes. The Water Coil can be ordered as Copper or Copper-Nickel for water conditions which are highly corrosive.
Scroll Compressors are used in all Polar Bear Heating & Air Conditioning Heat Pumps. These compressors operate more efficiently then Piston compressors and are more durable.
The "Ranco" reversing valve is considered the best reversing valve. This valve is very important to the operation of the Heat Pump since it directs the refrigerant to either the Air Coil or Water Coil depending on whether we are Air Conditioning or Heating.
On the Polar Bear 5 Ton unit is a 40 amp industrial contactor rated for 7 1/2 H.P. This contactor is twice the physical size as the normally used economy 30 amp contactor used by much of the industry.
